DIY

Today's blogpost is about a DIY I did recently.
I went to Primark a fewdays ago, because I wanted (not needed, but wanted!) new shoes, which I can pimp myself. The idea is not new obviously, but I saw some gorgeos shoes with a really cool detail on. Unfortunately I couldn't purchase them -too expensive-, so I thought there must be a cheaper way to get similar ones.
One of the cheapest shops here is Primark. So after I finished my duties for today, I headed off to have a look, if they offer some nice affordable shoes.
At this point I need to tell you something important about the two biggest Primark stores here on Tottenham Court Road Station and Bond Station --> NEVER EVER visit them during the weekend. You'll end up fed up, squeezed and shoved and it's just not fun to go. If you have the opportunity to go during the week, go for it. So much easier :)
Anyway, i graped two paires of fake buckskin ballerinas/loafers in black and in a  flamingo pinkish in size 3/4, even though size 3 is slighty too small. Altough I took some hair-clip bows in mint with polka dots!!!plus little flower on, which I will attach on the shoes. By the way, they had millions of these little clips with different pattern and colours, just perfectly cute for hair/shoes/whatever (maybe you have even more ideas to make things with these?! If so, let me know or send me cute pics of what you did with them :) I'm super curious!)
So finally I'm coming to what I actually did (sorry, I'm kind of a chatterbox):

what you (might) need:

1. shoes (that's what I did, though)

2. things like beads, flowers, bows (basically everything YOU like and wanna attach on the item)

3.scissors, brush (optional)

4. super-glue

So step 1 is to decide what you gonna put on your item. For me it was a mint bow with white polka dots, which I cut off its hairclip.
But as I said, basically you can attach whatever you want. If you're more the glitter girl, go for glitter dust or beads.

With Step 2 beginns the fun stuff, because now you're gonna put the stuff you picked out on your items.
Make sure that it is on the part, where you really want it to have (after you glued it with super-glue, it's non-removable).

Step 3 is to actually glue it on your shoes. I chose super-glue from poundland, which I put on my shoes with a little brush to avoid spreading it all over (and over my hands).

Let it dry a bit and enjoy your 'new' shoes :) I absolutely love my ones and I'm literally wearing them all day long and whenever I can.
Hope you enjoyed it!

what is beautiful? You my dear, you are beautiful, because you are who you are

London is one of these cities, where you can find a variaty of different styles, looks and beauty and internationality in ONE place.
Nobody will point a finger on you, because they are also dressed colourful, funky, stylish or just different and extraordinary.
But the world tend to be bitchy and judgy. Everyone seem to judge about other, especially girls.
And basically it doesn't matter if your skin is dark black, milky and creamy, pale and rather white then tanned.
It doesn't matter if you're originally from Asian countries, Europe, Africa, New Zealand or Australia. You are beautiful, wherever you are from!
It doesn't matter if you are a readhead or have brown hair, black, pink, blue, green, or even multicoloured hair or maybe non hair due to illness or just livestyle.
You're beautiful with piercings or non, with tattoos, whether on all of your skin or just a tiny one or stretched ears.
You are beautiful!
People shouldn't define you of your style, your look, rather then about your personality.
It doesn't matter if you're tall and skinny or small and curvy. EveryBODY is different and it doesn't make sense to compare, because we can't really change our body shape or DNA we got from our parents.
I personally like colourful things and style myself quirky, colourful and maybe for other people quite odd. But I LIKE IT and THAT'S HOW IT SHOULD BE!
And you, you who is reading that right now might be different. You might like to dress all in black, minimalistic or parisian chíc.
And that is absolutely awesome, because you are you and I am me.
What does it make for a difference to yourself when you point a finger on somebody, who is dressed differently to yourself and maybe ugly in your oppinion?
She or he might has an awesome personality you would like to be friends with or have around you. You could be friends or do things together, to save or make the world a better place.
When I went home for christmas I realised how many people actually judge about you and your appearence. I was used to London, because I was already living there for 4 months. I was used to its crazyness and to people, who won't turn around when they see somebdy dressed differently.
Anyway, I spend christmas with my lovely family and went shopping in Stuttgart (that's where I live in Germany).
As soon as I emerged from the tube, I recognised people staring at me and turning around, because I was dressed too colourful for their taste.
I was absolutely not used to so much fussing anymore, that I found it quite embarressing. Rather embarressing for them, staring at me and having no shame, than for me.
Because I can be like I want to be and that's it. I am who I am and that's wonderful and you can be who YOU are and that's wonderful, too
Of course it needs a lot of self-confidence to say: FUCK YOU; I AM WHO I AM.
But despite that, please remember that next time for yourself and others, who don't wear clothes of your taste. Wear whatever you like and you feel comfortable in and show the world and its judges the middle finger.YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!

worldcup or when a country suffers

This is going to be a serious blogpost. A blogpost about human rights and how people suffer in brazil, only because the worldcup.
We all know when the worldcup will start and are excited to see our own country in the competition.  But who of you knows, what's really going on in Brazil? I guess almost nobody.
Including me. Till I saw the advertising from amnesty international about the football world cup: here
(unfornatutely it's in german, but I'm sure there is a english version available on youtube and the pictures are telling stories anyway!).
So basically every country who holds the worldcup in, hopes for a big economy improvement. First of all they're investing in better streets, stadiums, airports and hotels to raise the standarts for everybody, who is coming to see the wc.
For raising these standarts even people are expeled from their houses. They broke down favelas. People were forced to move away.
THAT IS HUMAN RIGHTS ABUSE!
Of course loads of people thought the same and started to protest. Not only the expelation were claimed, also the lack of drinkable water and electricity and very bad public transport.
Little shops, kiosk have to move big streets for trams and underground, which don't even call at Universities, airports or the city centre.
But all the protests are nearly gone. Left behind are some violent youth groups, which can't really change anything.
Furthermore the government doesn't care at all. As long as they can improve the living standarts and hold the event in Rio de Janeiro, nothing seems wrong in their eyes.
And so do the sponsores and FIFA. They don't have to pay taxes, which will cause a lot of debts. And these debts will be carried on the folks' backs. Right now they value the debts of 680million $.
Gosh! Everything will be turned up side down for the lower, working and even the middle class. The living standart+debts will increase so much, that sooner or later nobody can even afford to live in the city anymore.
And the final question is, what will happen with the stadiums?
Well, in south africa they are left to rot and derelict. We will see what happens...

introducing of the most beautiful flowershop/kensal rise

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that I love Kensal Rise...it's very near to my borough and to reach with the bus 187 in 10min (or Overground).
So if you're arty (and colourful) and a fan of flowers and any decoration for your room/flat/house you will love Kensal rise.
Today I want you to introduce to the most beautiful flowershop here.

                   Scarlet and Violet

It's a little shop, where you can find EVERYTHING --> almost every flower you can imagine, vases in different sizes and shapes (I got an old milk glass, which I use as a vase) and books about gardening and flowers.
The shop owner (Victoria)/assistence are very nice and love what they do! If you rather want a boquet of flowers then single ones, they'll help you to find the best ones for your own, individual bouquet, so you'll love the result :)

Where can you find it? 76 Chamberlayne Road in Kensal rise

Do they got a website? http://www.scarletandviolet.com/

indigenious exhibition, which deserve its own post

When the autumn weather changed into winter weather (so that means basically even more rain plus coldness), I went to an amazing exhibition at OXO Tower (nearest tube station is TEMPLE or BLACKFRIARS), called indigenous exhibition.
It was basically (and obviously) about indigenous people in North America and South America, Africa and all over the world. They tried to show what people in different tribes believe and think and live.
Not only the exhibition was amazing, the atmosphere of the OXO Tower played an important rule...the OXO Tower is quite rustic and derelict, which worked amazing in this exhibiton (I tried a lot of time not to shutter, but sometimes it was just very creepy!).
Unfortunately I didn't have anybody to go with, so I was practially almost alone (not many people were there either!).
But it was absolutely worth it and I enjoyed it totally :) (this is a invitation to visit an exhibition at OXO TOWER, when you're in London!!!!!).

Oxford or when Sophie and I got ichy feet

This weekend is a long on...3 days free time instead of 2 (when you're an Au Pair too,
you'll know how relaxing this sounds! (not that I don't like my kids, I love love love them <3, but sometimes you just need a break!)).
However, first we wanted to go to Liverpool and had a nice family found on couchsurfing (if you have any experience with that, PLEASE share it with me :) i really want to try that out). But for some personal reasons it failed.
But Sophie and I got ichy feet and wanted to make the best of our long weekend, so we decided to go to Oxford.
We went on a Sunday, because a previous Au Pair (Hi Kristin, when you're reading that :) ) visited my family on saturday and we spent the afternoon together, sharing thoughts about our lovely kids <3
After 1 1/2 hours on the train we arrived finally in Oxford and were stunned by the beauty.
Not only the buildings, but the surrounding landscape, too! WOW!!!
Everything is taken so easy and relaxed there in comparison to London, where everything/one is quite hectic. So relaxing that we immediatly went to one of the small rivers to have lunch in the sunshine :)
How could it be different, we did sight seeing and saw all the wonderful buildings to start with 'the townhall' and 'church of St. Mary the virgin (which is the university church)'. Extremly impressive!
or 'Carfax Tower', 'Bodleian library', 'radcliff camera' and 'sheldonian theatre'.
Really cute was the 'Hertford bridge', which goes from the one side of the street to the other and crosses the street (confusing explanation, sorry!)

Gran Canaria or when I spent my easter 'holidays' with my sister

For easter fled from the so-called-spring-weather (okay, fair enough I have to admit that it wasn't thaaaat bad!) and took the plane to Gran Canaria to visit my sister/parents. Now you will think, ''what is her sister doing there, that her parents visiting her?'' --> my sister is an Au Pair too (sibling-thing, I guess!) and my parents visited her before she will go back to Germany in 1 1/2 months. And I wanted to see how she lives (she keeps sending me beautiful pictures from the beach!), too...so, after annoying 4hours (next to a baby! Did I mention that I hate babies/toddlers on airplanes?) I arrived pretty exhausted in Las Palmas.
But these 4 days are counting as the best this year!

Richmond or when we were lucky ones

I don't know if I told you guys but recently came another girl in our little 'au pair community'...I saw her always dropping of her children at the same private school as my children are going to and wandered who she was. So eventuelly I pulled myself together (jep, starting to speak to total strangers is kind of scary for me!) and asked her whether she is the new Au Pair for W and S.
AAAAND :D (how could it be different, when the kids were dropped by the mom so far) she was/is another Au Pair (when she is reading that, HI VICTORIA :) I mean you!).
She comes from New Zealand and works for her auntie's family :) and is a lovely girl (I'm glad that we became friends).
So one day we wanted to explore a new part of London -Richmond- (thank you to TFL, which didn't make it possible to go there for 8months, due to permanently signal-light-testing!)
But we were lucky ones and the overground was finally running :D couldn't believe that!

WHO DOESN'T WANT TO LIVE IN RICHMOND?
